It was more fun than usual photographing the La Crosse Spartan's game on St. Patrick's Day -- partly because the fans were festive and in the spirit and partly because the Spartans won, more than convincingly.

I took this photo at the 2009 Labor Day HoChunk Pow Wow in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The colors of the dancers outfits are incredible. But they also look good in black and white with some filter effects.

HoChunk Labor Day PowWow 2010

The HoChunk nation puts on a fantastic PowWow every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. They do a great job of communicating their culture to the non-native viewers. They also do a fantastic job of honoring not only the HoChunk veterans, but all veterans, no matter what their race. If you are in the area, check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Memorial Day

Memorial day is here. What a wonderful way to celebrate and honor veterans of all wars. We joined the Ho Chunk at their annual Memorial Day Pow Wow in Black River Falls. The color and the pageantry are spectacular. But it is obvious that the Native Americans hold deep respect for the fallen and currently serving members of our nations military. Thanks for letting us join you.

On another note. Only 2 more days until the Logger's season opener.

Spartan's almost win!!

The LaCrosse Spartans almost won their game tonight. They were ahead with 1 minute and 15 seconds to go. Unfortunately a penalty after their touchdown put the ball in play well down in home territory and Bloomington took advantage of it and scored. Our last second field goal attempt to tie the score went wide to the right. Keep plugging away guys.

Onalaska High School Play - "Much Ado About Nothing"

Onalaska High School is presenting it's spring play tonight and Saturday Night. They are doing "Much Ado About Nothing." Ellickson Studio had the priviledge of taking the pictures for the dress rehearsal and they can be seen online at http://www.ellicksonstudio.com.

The directors and cast have done a fantastic job of updating the setting and do an excellent job of bringing Shakespeare to life. Go see it. You won't be sorry.

Spitfire Grill at the Muse Theater

This week we were privileged to photograph the musical "Spitfire Grill" which opened Thursday at the Muse Theater on LaCrosse's north end. The music is fantastic and the actors are superb. If you get a chance, go see "Spitfire Grill". It runs through March.
